Each router or modem router examined in our reviews is given a star rating. This page explains how these ratings are arrived at.
Our ratings are worked out on based on both the technical specifications of the wireless n routers and real-world experience.
The technical specifications that are taken into account are:
- Which wireless n standard is used - (draft, draft 2.0, or full standard)
- Speed of wireless link
- Reliability of wireless link
- Strength of wireless link (distance)
- Other connectivity built-in
- Security Standards
The technical specs are combined with ease-of-use and other real-world factors to give our ratings which are given out of 5 stars. Five stars being the best and zero stars the worst.
